Why is religion "dying"

Fox News reported on a new study done by the American Physical Society which suggests that religion may soon die in several western countries. The reason? "For societies in which the perceived utility of not adhering is greater than the utility of adhering, religion will be driven toward extinction."

Perceived utility?

It comes down to utility, does it? It used to come down to truth. The question--back when people thought more rationally--was not, "Is it useful?" but "Is it true?"
