How many Legos does it take to make a life-size statue of Jesus?

Never thought it about before?

Me either.

In art, the medium is a part of the message. It used to be that the medium was thought to testify to the subject's worth. A Lego Mickey Mouse, maybe. But a Lego Jesus? Doesn't inspire much reverence...or confidence. If Christ is precious to believers (1 Pet. 2:4-6) it seems gold or silver or bronze would be more appropriate. Or since Christ is the cornerstone and foundation of the church (1 Cor. 3:11; Eph. 2:20). How about a marble, or better yet, a granite Jesus?

I agree that a gold, silver, or granite statue of Jesus would be entirely appropriate and fitting given the significance and worth of the subject. Nothing should be spared when we are trying to legitimately honor our Lord and Savior. However, I don't find the Lego statue to be irreverent in the least. I'm sure that much love and joy went into the creation of this tribute to our Lord. I don't know whether or not this church had the means to create something more magnificent, but I think that perhaps this is just one more way that we can honor the Lord in everything that we do, even building with Lego blocks.

I'll not quibble too much. "If the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have" (2 Cor. 8:12). I have to admit that many of my attempts to honor the Lord fall flat and some are perhaps even grossly misguided. I take comfort in the fact that the Lord has a regard for the intention, if not for the true merit of the deed. Still...I can't help thinking it might have been better not to display a statue at all than to display a Lego Jesus.

The New Testament's most prolific authors

Have you ever wondered who the most prolific authors of the New Testament are? Well, wonder no more because here's the skinny: the top three by far are Luke, Paul, and John. Some people will perhaps be surprised to learn that Paul doesn’t stand at the head of the list. The claim is often made that he wrote most of the New Testament. Not so. To be sure, he wrote the most books , but Luke wrote the most words, although their totals are very close to each other. Together, the two men wrote just over half of the New Testament.  Of the 138,020 Greek words in the New Testament, Luke wrote 27.5 percent (37,932). Paul wrote 23.5 percent (32,408). If we take Hebrews to have been written by Paul—the traditional view, though opposed by the consensus of modern biblical scholarship—then the numbers are almost identical. When your brother has something against you

What does Jesus mean when he says in Matthew 5:23-24, “If you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift”? He’s referring to bringing a sacrifice or an offering to the temple to present as a gift to God as an act of worship. And he says that if while you are doing this you remember that someone has something against you, you must first go and make it right, or God will not find the act of worship acceptable. Now, I suppose the question largely has to do with what Jesus means when he speaks of someone “having something against you”. We should be very clear about this. He doesn’t mean that your worship is unacceptable to God just because your neighbor is upset with you, regardless of why he is upset.
